Over at the Economic Collapse, they ask the valid and significant question:
Strategic Defaults: Is It Morally Right To Decide To Simply Stop Paying Your Mortgage?
My answer, hell yes. Dump the mortgage! This is only a moral dilemma if you have your head up your colon and are trying to save your bankster's ass. The same bankster who; by all accounts, screwed you into the ground and wants to convince you that it was your fault that they committed bank fraud and facilitated your getting a loan you couldn't possibly re-pay.
Further, you are morally obligated to take care of yourself and your loved ones if there be any. In other words, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU. You come first. Your home is now worth a 1/3 less; at least, than it was a year ago and will be worth less than half or worse of loan value in a short, little bit.
These bankster bastards sold you down the river, enslaved you, shackled you with a loan for a hugely over valued real-estate property. Motivated by greed, they never once considered the financial tragedy about to unfold in your lap. Are you nuts, a moral question?
This is a survival question. Dump the mortgage but first stay with the house for free as long as you can without paying a dime. Put the money you save by not paying the mortgage in a sock or under the mattress or something. If you bank it, they can get it. Pay down your other debt. Rent a house or apt. and go out to dinner a few times. Buy the wife some roses. Moral dilemma my ass. They're animals!!* DON'T BELIEVE THEM! DON'T TRUST THEM! LET THEM DIE! (Quote by James Tiberius Kirk, Star Trek VI)
*This is merely the opinion of a patriot, sick and tired of seeing the country run into the ground, surely on the HLS red list, who believes in freedom and liberty above the enslavement of the banksters.
Thomas Jefferson said this for a reason. He hated banksters too...

I agree with you 100% Right Site! Good quote by President Jefferson too.
